Who is The Wild Highlander ?
The Wild Highlander is Ross MacLennan. A charming and urbane scotsman with a decidedly english twist.
One of three brothers, Ross is a scion of generations of contrast. The son of a Brigadier and grandson of one of Scotlands greatest ever musicians on one side and the Grandson of a polo-playing colonial police commissioner on the other, he has invested his life in experiences.

He was educated at Fettes College in Edinburgh, won an Army scholarship to the University of York, where he graduated with honours in Philosophy. He then spent some years in the Queens Own Highlanders, serving amongst other places on the border between Hong Kong and China, in the jungles of Belize, heritage of Fort George in Scotland, the antarctic beauty of the Falkland Islands, planning beach assaults of Cyprus, working in the mountains and bushland of Zimbabwe teaching Mozambiquans to use Russian weapons to fight South African backed rebels and a couple of years operational duties in Northern Ireland, leaving the Army with the rank of Captain and an Irish Wolfhound called Humberstone.
During this period he became an obsessive photographer, developer and printer. He is one of the only officers to ever attend the Joint Services School of Photography at RAF Leconfield as a student. However, despite encouraging correspondance with Professor Michael Langford, he did not progress with his photographic education, sidetracked by an overdraft and the joy of being YF&S in London. He worked in communication for Bull computing systems before becoming the youngest senior manager at the Royal Mail with responsibility for all of their employee communications programme in UK. This led to a love of events and he then moved into an award-winning career across several major agencies in the corporate event industry.
In 2005, as european creative and production director for an american global agency, at the peak of his game, he started his own agency, Wild Highlander Limited. Successful from the start, the photographic elements soon became too busy so in 2006 he created 'The Wild Highlander', the photographic agency of the business and a dream come true. Ross is a qualified Licentiate of the Society of Portrait and Wedding Photographers as well qualifying as an Associate of the British Professional Photographers Association. He has been published in magazines on three continents and regularly travels to take images for clients and projects.
Well known across the photographic industry, he has managed to combine his relationships from events and photography to create an awesome network of contacts around the globe. He runs the Urban Photographer of the Year awards, an annual European competition, owned and sponsored by CB Richard Ellis, the worlds largest commercial property company. He sponsors the communications newsletter of Ant&Dick, the weddiing TV stars and Agony Uncles. He also is active in his sponsorship of two charities in Marrakech, one supports the education of women and the other rehabilitates children bought and abused by foreigners. You will find more about these on the blog and the site very soon.
He is very happily married with two daughters and lives in Cobham in Surrey when he is not in the studio or on assignment.
